Also congratulations were extended to Tonya Allred Fagge and husband, Clinton, for the news of their expecting a baby in June.

Harlan Sexton passed a plate around for the members to view with the Allred Crest on the front.  On the back of the plate is written:

Founded in 1997, the East Coast Allred Family Association (ECAFA) is an IRS 501 (c) 3 tax exempt non-profit organization dedicated to learning as much as possible about our American history and ancestors, most of whom were the original settlers of Randolph County, NC (old Orange).  Trips and activities are planned several times each year to visit a variety of family and historical sites around the USA.  Projects include working in cemeteries or abandoned grave yards in Randolph County to clean, preserve, protect them and identify the graves.  Our annual Reunion is held the “2” weekend of September each year.  The ECAFA is open to the public – anyone with an interest in history and genealogy is encouraged to join in the fun.  Fore more information visit www.allredfamily.com/ecafa.htm

This item will be a part of our fund raising.  Hopefully, we will have plates and also cups for purchase at this year’s reunion. The plates will sell for $25.00 and cups with the Allred Crest $6.00.   Linda will place further information on the Allred website.

Alice Pottmyer and Linda are working on a slide show (power point presentation) concerning the Jamestown Settlement and the ships in particular.  This will be presented at the 2007 Reunion.

Linda told the group about a doctor in Hickory who has put together an early  settler’s community.  He has brought old houses and buildings to his property and formed an 1840 village.   There are houses for weaving, wood craving, pottery, blacksmithing, cooking and other demonstrations relating to the early settler’s way of life.  This village will be opened for one day – Saturday, October  27, 2007.  The fee for the event is $25.00 per person.  More details on this event will follow at a later date.

The group was asked what trips they would like to take this year.  Suggestions were:

ClappMill/Lindley Mill – revolutionary war  skirmishes – near Alamance Battleground. Ruth Ann Jones is familiar with these sites.  Also perhaps a picnic at the Allred-Trogdon Cemetery in the summer.

Linda  told about the “Trading Path Organization” located in Hillsboro, N. C.  The group documents old original roads, identifies old houses, locates old cemeteries and original paths taken by the early settlers..  This is something our group might be interested in doing when the weather is warm for a one-day walking exploration.

Linda is to contact Dennis York about ordering the updated version of Microsoft Office Software.  If you want to order software –bring your list to the next meeting.

East Coast Allred Family Assoc., Inc.  bank account at present:  $577.13.  East Coast Allred Family Assoc., Inc. membership dues for 2007 are now due and payable to Harlan Sexton, Treasurer, P.O. Box 2406, Asheboro, N. C. 27204 or may be paid at the next meeting. $10.00  single - $15.00  couple.

Next East Coast Allred Family Association meeting to be announced.

There being no further business or discussion, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectively submitted,
