ECAFA Meeting Minutes

August 23, 2007

The East Coast Allred Family Association, Inc., met Thursday, August 23, 2007, at
The Blue Mist Restaurant at 6 o’clock.

Linda opened the meeting by discussing the upcoming Allred Family Reunion, September 7th,8th and 9th  to be held at the Grays Chapel School,  located at the intersection of Old Liberty Road and Highway 22,  Northeast Randolph County.
Friday 9/7 – Tour of Allred Family and Historic Sites in Randolph County. Vans leave from Grays Chapel Church at 9 am and return about 6:30 pm.  Walk on land your ancestors walked.
Saturday 9/8 – Main Reunion Day – Grays Chapel School.  9 am – Doors open
10:30 am – Sail across the Ocean in 1682.  11:30 am – Welcome Meeting. Noon -                
Covered dish/pot luck lunch.  2:30 – Genealogy Presentation.  3: 30 – Raffle.  4:00 – Activities Wind Down.
Sunday, 9/9 – Afternoon Trip to Trading Ford on the Yadkin – Site of a Revolutionary War Skirmish.  Time and place of departure to be announced at the reunion.  Flyers were handed out to members to be  posted at various sites announcing the reunion.

Plates, Eating Utensils/Napkins – Becky Allred Sexton
Raffle Table – Mildred Allred/Brian Allred
Ship Building – Harlan Sexton/Franklin Allred
Prayer – Wallace Allred
Clean-up – Everybody

Friday – September 7th – 6 o’clock – setup time for reunion. The reunion will be held in the school  cafeteria.

The Crandall Canyon Coal Mine  tragedy  in Huntington, Utah was discussed.  Terry Allred was among the six miners that were lost.  ECAFA  members had  met Terry and his cousin Casey Allred at Utah Reunions.  A Memorial will be established  in the six miner’s memory.  The ECAFA  will  contribute  to this memorial.

Tickets for the 1840  Village in Hickory – Saturday – October 27th -  $25.00 per person  was mentioned.  Tickets should be bought through Linda before October 1st.  A van (s) will be rented for this event.  More details later.

East Coast Allred Family  Association  bank account at the present is $499.03.

There being no further business or discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
