Elrod DNA Project

An easy way to interpret the DNA Results

Below you will find the DNA results for the first two participants. Both have paper documented their family line back to Johan Deter Elrod - perfect candidates for our project. But, we need more!! Joining is easy! Simply go to http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=B82668&special=true . Your kit will arrive in the mail and consists of two giant cotton swabs which you run around inside your mouth, then mail back to the lab. Tom and Kris's DNA results show a perfect match. This proves the share a common ancestor - Johan Deter Elrod.
But, their DNA does not match Allred DNA as you can see below:

With 9 mutations or 9 markers with different results - there is no DNA match.
This proves the Elrod family and Allred family are not related.

But, questions remain:

1. Are all Elrods related?

2. Do all American Elrods descend from Johan Deter Elrod?
